6-Day Uganda-Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Adventure
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our tour guide. After a brief orientation, embark on a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to more than half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Enjoy the picturesque journey through Uganda’s beautiful landscapes, including rolling hills, lush greenery, and charming villages. Arrive at your lodge in Bwindi in the late afternoon. After checking in, relax and unwind, enjoying the serene surroundings and preparing for the next day’s adventure.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking guidelines and safety measures. You will be assigned a gorilla family to track and divided into small groups with an experienced guide. Embark on your trek through the dense forests of Bwindi, navigating steep and sometimes challenging terrain. The trek can take anywhere from a few hours to most of the day, depending on the location of the gorilla family. Once you locate the gorillas, spend an awe-inspiring hour observing these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. Watch as they interact, play, and go about their daily lives – a truly unforgettable experience.
After the trek, return to your lodge for a well-deserved rest and lunch. In the afternoon, you can choose to take a guided nature walk or visit the local community to learn about their culture and way of life. Enjoy a relaxing evening at your lodge, reflecting on the incredible experience of the day.
Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park After breakfast, depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most popular savannah park. Enjoy the scenic drive and arrive at your lodge in the afternoon. After checking in, embark on a game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, home to a variety of wildlife including lions, elephants, and leopards. In the evening, relax at your lodge and enjoy the stunning views of the park.
Day 4: Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise Start your day with an early morning game drive in the Mweya Peninsula, exploring the diverse ecosystems of the park. After lunch, take a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, which boasts one of the highest concentrations of hippos in the world. Keep your camera ready for spectacular wildlife sightings along the shores. After the boat cruise, return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 5: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to the Uganda-Rwanda border and continue to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. Arrive at your lodge in the afternoon and check in. Spend the evening relaxing and enjoying the stunning views of the Virunga Mountains. Prepare for another exciting day of gorilla trekking in Rwanda.
Day 6: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park and Departure Today is the highlight of your Rwandan adventure! After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking guidelines and safety measures. You will be assigned a gorilla family to track and divided into small groups with an experienced guide. Begin your trek into the dense forests of Volcanoes National Park, home to the critically endangered mountain gorillas. The trek can be challenging, but the experience is incredibly rewarding. Once you locate the gorillas, spend an hour observing and photographing these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.
After the trek, return to your lodge to freshen up and have lunch. Then, drive back to Kigali. If time permits, take a short city tour of Kigali, visiting landmarks such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial and local markets. Finally, you will be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of an incredible 6-day Uganda-Rwanda gorilla trekking adventure.
