4-Day Uganda Safari: Gorilla and Chimpanzee Tracking

Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe and Transfer to Kibale National Park Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly greeted by our tour guide. After a brief orientation, embark on a scenic drive to Kibale National Park, known for its rich primate population. Enjoy the beautiful Ugandan countryside, passing through tea plantations and local villages. Arrive at your lodge in the afternoon and check in. Spend the evening relaxing and preparing for the chimpanzee tracking adventure the next day.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale National Park and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing on chimpanzee tracking guidelines. Accompanied by an experienced guide, trek through the lush forest of Kibale in search of chimpanzees. As you navigate the dense vegetation, keep an eye out for other primates and a variety of bird species. Once you locate the chimpanzees, spend an hour observing and photographing these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat.

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and freshen up. In the afternoon, depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s most diverse ecosystems. Arrive at your lodge in the evening and check in. Enjoy a delicious dinner and relax, preparing for the next day’s activities.

Day 3: Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise Start your day with an early morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Look out for elephants, lions, buffaloes, leopards, and various antelope species. The early morning is the best time to spot these animals as they are most active during this time. After the game drive, return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast.

In the afternoon, embark on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake Edward and Lake George. This boat ride offers excellent opportunities to see hippos, crocodiles, and a wide array of bird species up close. The channel’s banks are often teeming with wildlife, making it a photographer’s paradise. After the boat cruise, return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for Gorilla Trekking and Return to Entebbe After an early breakfast, transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to over half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Upon arrival, head to the park headquarters for a briefing on gorilla trekking guidelines and safety measures. You will be assigned a gorilla family to track and divided into small groups with an experienced guide.

Begin your trek through the dense forests of Bwindi, navigating steep and sometimes challenging terrain. The trek can take anywhere from a few hours to most of the day, depending on the location of the gorilla family. Once you locate the gorillas, spend an awe-inspiring hour observing these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. Watch as they interact, play, and go about their daily lives – a truly unforgettable experience.

After the trek, return to the lodge to freshen up and have lunch. Then, begin your journey back to Entebbe, enjoying the scenic views along the way. Upon arrival in Entebbe, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight, marking the end of an incredible 4-day safari adventure in Uganda.
